What is Warm or Kiln Glass?
There are 2 very interesting videos from Bullseye that will explain what Warm Glass or Kiln Glass is.
Kiln-glass lends itself to a wide variety of creative techniques that produce an even wider variety of objects. This lesson surveys several types of glass projects undertaken using kiln-glass. It then details how anyone, anywhere might begin making with kiln-glass.
Glass art comes in many shapes and sizes. These range from the simple and practical to the abstract, colourful, and amazing. Thanks to glass artists around the world, the creative boundaries of this dynamic and exciting art-making material continue to expand.
Bullseye's Glass can be formed and shaped at very high temperatures in a glass kiln, which is not as hot as a pottery kiln and has more elements for more consistent heat distribution. As a result, kiln-glass lends itself to diverse working methods and objects. These objects include simple slumped bowls and platters, cast sculptures, painterly panels, and architectural installations.
To offer an overview of the field, then, this video highlights a variety of finished art pieces from contemporary artists working in kiln-glass.
