Cold Characteristics
Although termed an opal due to its almost total lack of light transmission, this is (in terms of its composition) a transparent glass.
Working Notes
Low viscosity. Will flow sooner and more than other glasses. In very thin sections the colour may vary from reddish/grey to bluish/grey.
Frits are versatile and can be used in:
- Pate de verre and kilncasting
- Kilnforming, including glass sketching and painting with light techniques
- Torchworking and blowing, to create colours and patterns on surfaces.
