Cinnabar Strike Opaque Bullseye Rod 309
- Description
- Working Notes
-
All rods are 42cm in length and 4-5mm diameter. Bullseye is 90COE and isn't compatible with Effetre or Vetrofond Rods. The annealing Temperature range is 505- 520 Celsius.
Colours That Strike
Many glasses that Bullseye produces appear pale or even colourless in their cold form but “strike” or mature to a target colour when fired to the right temperature. These styles are marked with the symbol above.
Not recommended for Stained Glass or Mosaics as Kiln required to achieve colour shown
-
Striker
This style may not reveal (strike to) its target colour until fired.
Cold Characteristics
Opaque.
Working Notes
This style is not suitable for kiln casting because it can become incompatible when held at high temperatures for an extended period. It may also become incompatible in instances where processes exceed the parameters of the test for compatibility. Testing is recommended when heat work exceeds these parameters.
Torch: Depending on the network of the glass, as indicated by colour when it is put into an annealing kiln, a range of colours may be achieved. If this glass is put into an annealing kiln with a deep brown hue, a target Cinnabar colour will result in the finished piece. If it is very light beige, as opposed to deep brown, and the desired result is Cinnabar, gradually cool and reheat the glass without bringing it to a soft state. Look for it to turn deep brown and then put it into an annealing kiln.
Kiln: Lighter colour and greater opacity than in sheet glass form. Rod colour is close to Burnt Orange Opalescent (000329) after a full fuse firing.
