    Colours That Strike

Many glasses that Bullseye produces appear pale or even colourless in their cold form but “strike” or mature to a target colour when fired to the right temperature. These styles are marked with the symbol above.

It is not recommended for stained glass or mosaics as kiln is required to achieve the colour shown.

  • Contains

    Lead

    May React With

    Selenium, Sulfur

    Cold Characteristics

Light blue-lavender. May have a hint of the struck colour. Slight variations in cold and flameworked colour from one production run to another.

    Working Notes

Torch: Work in a cooler, oxidizing atmosphere. Once formed in the flame, if Light Fuchsia has not struck, cool the glass in the flame until it is stable and behaves more like a solid. Gently reheat then cool the mass while looking for its colour to deepen. Light Fuchsia strikes more reliably in larger applications, such as a core bead.

Kiln: Rod-only glass style. A linear, streaked design may develop upon firing and may be visible whether fired lengthwise, or on end.

Why did I wait so long ..............!

I am sitting here "Wowed". I'm an avid flame worker and just hadn't got around to using Bullseye Rod before now. I was so scared it would crack and break before I had a chance to anneal it. Well, it was a dream and the colour/light fuchsia was something else under the flame, excited is how I am feeling on finally firing this and can't wait to get back to my torch to play some more. A photo would be a spoiler for my finished work, so this will have to wait and it will appear on my Insta if you would like to see it in a week or so. No doubt I will be having lots of fun with this in the future.
